GRUPO ADDVALORA in response to Hurricane Melissa impacting Jamaica and the Caribbean
In light of the devastating passage of Hurricane Melissa, which has hit Jamaica as one of the strongest storms in its recent history (Category 5), causing severe flooding, significant structural damage, and seriously affecting the population in the Center and West of the country, Grupo Addvalora wishes to express its deepest sympathy to all the victims and those affected.
This note is intended to provide information about the resources we are making available to insurance companies, reinsurers, and multinationals established in the area that may have suffered damage.
We have activated our Contingency Plan for natural disasters, forming a special emergency team that can act immediately to undertake damage assessment and adjustment tasks, with the aim of achieving a speedy recovery of the insured parties’ operations. We can carry out remote assessments using our own adjusting remote tool or in person, depending on the needs of each case.
Our teams are made up of professionals with different technical profiles who have extensive experience in NAT CAT and come from our joint venture Addvalora-JMO Adjusters in Jamaica. Some of our specialties are particularly relevant to the main buildings and infrastructure that may have suffered damage: agriculture, energy, construction and public works, transport, telecommunications, tourism, etc., in addition to the specialty of loss of profits and ALOP.
We have been involved in some of the most significant NAT CAT claims of the last two decades, especially in the Caribbean region: fires, weather events, tsunamis, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fault line ground displacement, hailstorms, volcanic eruptions, and hydrometeorological risks in general.
The special emergency response team is already operational in this country, coordinated from the regional office in Miami, USA. At the end of this week, it will be reinforced with our resources in the USA and Latin America and, of course, with the support of our headquarters in Spain at all times.
